Dr. Karobee Hazarika Choudhury is a well established and known name in Assam. She was born on 13th Sept 1979 in Assam, Guwahati to Nripen Hazarika and Runee Hazarika. Her father was a national level badminton player. Dr. Karobee did her schooling from St. Mary’s High School. She was a multi talented child and was good in acting, dancing and in Table Tennis; at that time, these activities were not accepted by the society as a profession .But her parents always encourage her to continue her passion along with Nobel profession for her future and when she was in 9th Grade, she decided her profession to be a Doctor. Her father once told her that, the profession you have chosen demands lot of hard work and dedication. She took this advice seriously and started working towards her aim. Since childhood Dr. Karobee was well organized and always managed her passion and studies in a well manner. Her day begins at 4am in the morning to attend everything from studies to her hobbies.

Dr. Karobee did graduation in BAMS in 2004 from Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Jalukbari, Guwahati followed by Executive Post Graduation specialization in Health and Family Welfare Management in 2007 from National Institute of Health and Family Welfare ,New Delhi. Her first posting was under National Health Mission and after some time she joined Government service under the department of Health and Family welfare in Assam Government.

Dr. Karobee always believes that motherhood is a challenge for every woman whether, she is a professional or a housewife and it becomes more challenging, when your husband is stationed at other location and you have to manage things alone with kids. She recalls her time of joining her job as a District Nodal Officer for Ayush Kamrup metro, where other than OPD she was actively handling the administration part and central programs. She took all these in a positive manner and with a belief of learning and helping others to stands differently in the society. She has spent most of her career in rural areas in backbreaking situations with alone managing her kids and hospital duties.

Year 2019, when Novel Corona Virus, COVID -19 hits the world and devastated the life of everyone and impacted the society with a huge loss of human life worldwide. It was a challenge for medical fraternity to fight against it and save the world. In this time Dr. Karobee was stationed at a rural area of her district as District Nodal Officer ,where she had migratory patients from lower middle class background .To educate them about this pandemic was really challenging task .They doesn’t know how to sanitize and make use of mask. In this tough time she took charge of both the fronts with self confidence and handled her personal and professional life. When entire India was facing lockdown, she was all inspired by her husband courageous words which made her more dedicated towards her job in these tough times. She was posted in Covid care center in green zone in data and reporting team where she was to report to Health Minister. In this time Dr. Karobee took a firm stand and took her both the kids to the accommodation provided by the government and when most of the doctors tested Covid positive, Dr. Karobee did not took her step back and supported everyone with a positive zeal.

May 2021, Dr. Karobee proved her dedication in her profession, when she got to know about a patient who was Covid positive and not getting Remdesivir injection for his treatment .Dr. Karobee not only coordinated with authorities for Remdesivir but also spoke to patient family and with her strong efforts, she manages to get the Remdesivir delivered to the patient. There are many cases where Dr. Karobee took the lead .In this crucial time, she was not confined to only OPD patients but handled Covid patients as well. It was all hard time for everyone and being a District Nodal Officer of Ayush Kamrup metro , her posting was in rural areas where need of awareness was more. She never hesitated and helped many of the patients not only of her district but many others as well.

Dr. Karobee again came forward at the time of vaccination drives by coordinating with NGO’s in organizing vaccination drives in rural areas of Guwahati, she also have arranged and visited with the team for home vaccination drives for the people, who are in severe state and unable to come to the center for vaccine .She visited all the her vaccine centers along with her team all the time. In this complete span of Covid, her family supported her alot. Since long time she is been associated with blind school, Orphanages and old age homes and helping them with free medical checkups and medication on her own.

According to her; she has not taken this profession just to treat people but as a helping hand for the society .She give this credit to her parents ,who had inculcate the habit of helping and caring for the people in her from early childhood days. In today’s life when everyone think for themselves, Dr. Karobee wholeheartedly managing all the fronts of life with such a positive attitude and zeal and has become an inspiration for many working womens of our society. She has been awarded by many appreciation and recognition from various organizations but according to her the best reward is when you help someone who is in need of your help. At present other than medical profession, Dr. Karobee is perusing her final year of M.A in Psychology.

Believe in yourself and working for humanity is all about Dr. Karobee Hazarika Choudhury. She says God has given us life and one should always utilize it, in taking and giving best of it.
